PANTHEON: PRECISION FARMING OF HAZELNUT ORCHARDS

PANTHEON aims to develop an agricultural SCADA system for the precision farming of orchards. The proposed SCADA system will acquire information at the resolution of the single plant through a limited number of heterogeneous unmanned robotic components, which move within the orchard to collect data and perform typical farming operations, and an IoT agro-meteorological solar-powered network, which is deployed to continuously monitor the environmental conditions of the orchard.

Andrea Gasparri (M’09) received the Laurea (cum laude) degree in computer science and the Ph.D. degree in computer science and automation from Roma Tre University, Rome, Italy, in 2004 and 2008, respectively. He is currently a Professor with the Department of Engineering, Roma Tre University, Rome, Italy. His research interests include mo- bile robotics, sensor networks, and more generally networked multiagent systems. Prof. Gasparri is a member of the Steering Committee for the IEEE RAS Technical Committee on Multirobot Systems, since 2014 and a member of the IEEE CSS Technical Committee on Networks and Communications since 2015. He is member (as Associate Editor) of the Conference Editorial Board for the IEEE Control Systems Society, since 2017. He is Associate Editor of the IEEE TRANS- ACTIONS ON CYBERNETICS, since 2017. He received the Italian Grant FIRB Futuro in Ricerca 2008 for the project Networked Collaborative Team of Autonomous Robots funded by the Italian Ministry of Research and Edu- cation. He is currently the coordinator of the project “Pantheon” focused on robotics for precision farming supported by the European Community within the H2020 framework (under Grant 774571).
