In this workshop we will show how to build and use Planets in a room, a DIY low-cost kit to build a small, spherical projector to show and teach the planets and the stars in a classroom or in an educational exhibit. The projector uses 3d printing technologies and other off the shelf pieces. It was funded by the Europlanet Outreach Funding Scheme and its distribution to the public started in September 2018.
Planets in a room is a project by the non profit association Speak Science, in collaboration with INAF-IAPS, the Roma Tre University (Dipartimento di Matematica e Fisica), AstronomiAmo and the company 2be3D.
It is the most important event in the world of innovation. Is a showcase of invention, creativity, and resourcefulness. Maker Faire gathers together tech enthusiasts, crafters, educators, tinkerers, schools, universities, research institutes, artists, students, and corporations. Makers come to show their creations and share their learnings. Attendees flock to Maker Faire to glimpse the future and find the inspiration to become Makers themselves.
